Musicians Are Real People With Hobbies

Hobbies
As I am sure you can imagine whatever your passion is you need to get away from it and do something entirely different from time to time.
This is where having a hobby or several comes in so very handy. Imagine how dreary life would be if we all had to do only the one thing over and over. At times it seems like that is what life is made up of - doing the same things over and over. But, one can develop a subordinate passion and call it a hobby.
Bridge
Obviously the list of possible hobbies is practically endless, but there are certain ones which I, as a musician, have found particularly wonderful.
My first passion outside music is the game of bridge. I find that it is a terrific thing to do something that involves people who are not necessarily musicians. It is so easy to have friends almost exclusively from the people you work with or with whom you share your number one passion.
When playing bridge most of us addicts talk about nothing but bridge. I will tell you a personal story that demonstrates this kind of kink that bridge players seem to share.
I formed a bridge partnership with a guy named Martin. We were quite successful and really enjoyed playing together. As I was going off to yet another tournament to play with Martin my wife asked me what his last name was. I had to confess that I had no idea. She then asked what his profession was. I again had to admit that I didn't know. She seemed amazed that I could spend so much time with anyone, even travelling to other cities for tournaments, and not know these basic facts about him. I tried my best to explain that all we talked about was bridge and what we had to do to improve our partnership.
Eventually Martin came to dinner and my wife was able to find these answers for herself.
Hobbies That A Musician Can Enjoy
Just a few of the other things that can be of great pleasure as hobbies (some even an become addictions) are:
  • Golf;
  • Reading;
  • Pets, including such things as dog shows etc;
  • Plays;
  • Concerts;
  • Driving; and
  • Skiing.
Certainly this is in no way extensive, but obviously there are often musicians found doing these things and enjoying them.
Conclusion
Just because musicians are somehow different from anyone else doesn't mean they can't possess a few real human traits.

Get Into the Beat With Lion King Music

From the top grossing animated flick by Disney, the Lion King Music came out as one of the most inspiring songs of all time. It was popularized way back in 1994 by singer-song writer Elton John. The soundtrack album is named after the animated film itself with 12 tracks in the standard edition. It was Tim Rice who wrote lyrics for the songs and was scored by Hans Zimmer, Lebo M and his African Choir. The 32nd animated Disney movie is available in 3 soundtrack albums in different editions, namely: standard, special and international. It was released in both audio cassettes and CDs on July 13, 1994 after it was recorded in the US, UK and South Africa.
Awards and Performers
Just as its movie made a hit in reel life, the Lion King Music garnered two Academy Awards for Original Score, Best Music and Original Song. At the Golden Globes, it bagged the same awards including Comedy/Musical and Best Motion Picture. It also got 3 nominations to the Grammy Awards.
It became the biggest selling soundtrack in all of Disney's animated films. In fact, more than 10 million copies of the album were shipped in the US and was awarded a 10x Platinum or Diamond Record. It was also named as one of the "all-time Disney & Pixar Soundtracks" by Rhapsody, an online music service last 2010.
Internationally acclaimed artist, Elton John performed in a dual role for a number of tracks in the list. Other tracks were performed by Whoopie Goldberg, Rowan Atkinson, Carmen Twillie, Jeremy Irons, Jason Weaver, Cheech Marin, Nathan Lane, Jim Cummings, Sally Dworsky and Ernie Sabella.
Tracks and Editions
The Lion King Music has a standard edition album that contains 12 tracks with all-time famous hits, "Circle of Life" and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" by Elton John. Also included in the album are "I Just Can't Wait to Be King", "Be Prepared", "Hakuna Matata", "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" ( with duets),"This Land","...To Die For", "Under the Stars", "King of Pride Rock", "Circle of Life" (with an African chorus),"I Just Can't Wait to Be King".
Two new tracks were added in September 30, 2003 in a special edition album. These were "The Morning Report" by James Earl Jones, Jeff Bennett, Evan Saucedo and a remix of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight by Elton John.
Disney also released an international edition album with an instrumental called "Hyenas". The song was one of the unreleased tracks from Hans Zimmer's score. All of Elton John's other versions of the song "Can You Feel The love Tonight" were removed from the original track list and only the original version was retained.
After a year its standard edition was released, Disney came up with another album that featured songs and performances inspired by the film. "Rhythm of the Pride Lands" focused on African influences by Lebo M in African language. Some songs from this album were usually used in musicals and video sequels.
Musical Numbers in the Movie
"Circle of Life" was played in the movie when Simba was formally introduced to all in Pride Lands. It was replayed when Simba had his newborn cub to Nala in another ceremonial presentation. "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" was also sung by an off-screen character depicting adult Nala and adult Simba's romantic relationship. Simba sang "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" with Nala, and Zazu in their race towards the elephant graveyard. Scar sang "Be Prepared" with Shenzi, Banzai and Ed while revealing his evil plan to kill Mufasa and Simba to the hyenas. Timon, Pumbaa sang "Hakuna Matata" during their welcome home ceremony for Simba. "The Morning Report" was sung by Zazu, Mufasa and Simba when Zazu sends a morning report to Mufasa, but gets ambushed by Simba.
Stage musicals were later on directed in 1997 in some parts of the world, namely: United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, South Africa, Korea and Taiwan. The majestic collaboration of top performers and artists in the Lion King Music deserve a big round of applause with the well-blended musical score to beat.

Beat Making Made Easy - How To Make Professional Beats With Beat Making Software

If you aspire to be a music producer, then you will first need to have a top notch beat making software. There are so many out there, and you will end up wasting crap loads of time if you had no idea what features to look for. Seriously, as all of them claim to be the best in the industry you got to know some of the important features that a good beat maker should have.
We are going to look at some of the "must have" features that a good beat maker should have. In comparison to studio equipment, beat making software is far affordable to everyone. You just need to have a computer to make your own beats. In terms of sound quality, don't be surprised that a good beat maker can produce beats that sound like those produced by studio equipment.
Now here are 3 important features to look for when you are choosing a beat maker.
1) User Friendly and Intuitive - I don't know about you, but I hate reading a hundred pages user manual just to learn how to use the software. So, it's very important that the beat maker itself must be user friendly and intuitive that even a total beginner could start without many hassles. Nevertheless, the simplicity of the software does not mean that it has limited options or editing functions to make unique beats. So, the software has to be good for both beginner and veteran alike.
2) Comprehensive Preset Library - Not all software offers this. However, it would be good, especially for beginners. You can modify these preset beats to whatever you like. You can also reverse engineer the beats to see how professional beats are put together. The preset library should cover a variety of music genres.
3) Video Tutorials - This is definitely a must. A picture is worth a thousand words. So, with video it's even better. Video tutorials will definitely help you to understand faster and better and cut down the learning curve. And most importantly, it's easier to follow than to read a user manual as you are inputting the data through sight and ear instead of just your sight.
Above list is by no means exhaustive and final. There are many more things that you should consider but these three are the most important. Some criteria may not even be on the software itself but rather after sales service that you get with the beat maker like the member's forum that you can ask questions and share knowledge with like minded people from all over the world.

Bass Guitar Types - Which One Is Right For You?

A bass guitar is primarily a four stringed instrument that produces sound, usually through amplification, by either being picked, slapped, or most commonly plucked. When people think of a bass guitar most often the image they get in their mind is a longer four stringed version of a guitar. However, that is an all to common fallacy, in fact there is a large number of types of basses out there each with their own unique feature.
Electric
The electric bass is an instrument that runs a cable from its input jack (a hole on the side of the bass), to an amplifier that projects the sound made while playing the strings on the instrument. Electric basses can differ in size, shape, make, sound, and even with the amount of strings. The long slender part of the bass just as with a guitar is the neck. The neck ranges in size between short-scale and regular scale. For beginners short-scale basses are easier to play but the sound is usually compromised in that it creates a much darker and less bright sound.
The neck of a short-scale is usually around 30 inches a dramatic difference from the 34 inches on standard bass necks. The sound of a bass can change dramatically depending on the type of wood used. Alder, Ash, Koa, and Walnut are some of the most common types of wood used for the bodies.
When it comes to the bass's neck rosewood and maple are almost always used. While most electric basses usually only have four string where the tuning is (E-A-D-G) some basses contain a fifth string that has a lower register (B-E-A-D-G), and there are even some basses that not only have a low B string but a high C as well, making them a six string bass, (B-E-A-D-C).
Acoustic & Acoustic-Electric
Much like guitars, basses have their own acoustic models that do not require a cable or bass amp to produce sound. All that is needed for these specific types of basses is simply playing. The sound is produced by the vibrations made from playing echoing through the body of the bass and then resonating out of the large hole in the front of the bass's body, the sound hole.
Acoustic-Electric basses are an even rarer form of basses that can produce sound with or without an amp. They are almost identical to acoustic basses in size, shape and look and like an acoustic basses they can make sound merely by being played. However, unlike acoustic basses acoustic-electrics can act like electric basses and be plugged into and be played.
Beginner Kits
Basses like guitars can end up getting pretty pricey. High end bass companies like Fodera, Warwick, and Ritter can create basses that can go into thousand dollar range. There are though several beginner kits that typically only cost a couple hundred dollars.

The Fender Electric Guitar

Ask anyone to draw a guitar, anyone; doesn't matter how old or young, or what gender, it also doesn't matter where he comes from. I'll bet everything that there are only two things that they will end up with, a scribble of an acoustic guitar, or an electric guitar that looks unmistakably like a Fender Stratocaster. Fender Electric guitars are indeed the most popular electric guitar in the planet; and that's not for nothing, man. Their line of electric guitars has each made a mark on the history of music. Man's history is pretty much surrounded with music and art, and Fender's have become part of it too.
Fender Electric Guitars are definitely one of those brands that you could say no too. Even the guitar legends prefer to use it over anything else. For me, there are only two guitars that would suit my preference, a Fender and a Gibson. But Fenders would always make it to the top of my list, through and through. Now, what is it with these guitars that everyone wants it? What are its features? What makes it so special that even legendary guitar players would give a fortune for it?
Basically, it's not all about the features. Not even the looks and the name of the brand. You know what makes it a cut above the rest? It's the tonal quality. And when you talk about tonal quality, each and every Fender Electric Guitars has their own tonal quality to brag about and has been used and abused by some of the greatest axmen of all time. For example, when it comes to the good old surf rock of the 50's as well as the Grunge rock of the late 80's and early 90's, the Fender Jaguar was the axe of choice. Its clean tone was perfect for that good old surf vibe and we you soup it up with distortion; it becomes the perfect weapon for grunge.
If you want to know other Fender Electric Guitars, here they are with some brief details:
1. Fender Telecaster - basically, this was the first commercially successful solid - body electric guitar and the third commercial guitar from Fender. The first one was the Esquire, a single pickup, solid - body guitar, then the Broadcaster that was discontinued due to copyright problems with Gretsch (which later would be owned by Fender) and then the Telecaster. A double single - coil pick up electric guitar which tone was the most sought after when it comes to the traditional blues, rock and roll and jazz.
2. Fender Stratocaster - the supposed to be improvement of the Telecaster but was made to be a different guitar as per suggested by customers. In most people's opinion, it is the perfect guitar. Usually set up with a three single coil pick up set up with the bridge pick up slanting to get that you unique tone. Jimi Hendrix used it, Stevie Ray Vaughn used it, Eric Clapton used it, John Mayer used it and the list goes on and on.
There are a lot more Fender Electric Guitars and them users but I can't put it all on one post. So that's it for now.

Perfect Wedding Bands and Music - Make the Right Choice

Wedding bands/music is like the icing on the cake; it can help to set the mood for the entire event. Hence planning for wedding music and songs can get to be a little daunting especially if you do not know how to go about it. Here are a few tips and pointers that can get you started in the right direction.
The first and most important thing is to decide what kinds of songs and music that you want to be played on your big day. There are so many options to choose from like traditional wedding bands/music, contemporary, light-hearted, religious, eclectic or somber. You can also choose music pertaining to a specific culture or according to the theme of your wedding if any. Once you have decided the framework, consider half the job done. It is best to sit down with your partner and make the selection rather than do it all by yourself; if you have hired a wedding planner, then make sure that she is also a part of your discussions as the music must reflect the overall mood of the wedding.
You can also mix and match the style of music; some people prefer somber and religious music for the ceremony but fun and sassier dance numbers for the reception to get the guest grooving. Another important tip is to choose wedding bands/music that reflects both of your personalities. Do not blindly follow any trend; instead select pieces that is meaningful to your relationship. You can also play one or two special songs that have touched you during your courtship; it is a wonderful feeling to play some heady love ballads for your first dance during the reception.
Dedicating a special song to a friend or a family member is a great way to say thanks to that person. It is also important that you keep the tastes of your guests in mind while choosing music especially for the cocktail party or reception. Get wedding bands/music that will appeal to both the younger and older generation and will keep all of them on the toes. It is quite easy to hire a wedding band or DJ these days; you just need to go online and search the top ranking ones. Another easy way is to ask for recommendations to your wedding planner or friends and relatives.
If you are hiring a live band, then make a choice of the instruments that you would like for the wedding music. Some people prefer soft and light piano music while others prefer more specific ones like saxophone, string quartet or a folk group. You can discuss the type of music that you prefer with the band master and also inform him of the special requests. Give adequate time to the band especially if you need many special numbers as they have to procure the music and practice it before the event. But if you are going in for a DJ, the work gets done faster as everything is electronic.

You are always Beautiful

We believe that we lack the beauty and to live in an imperfect world, but it is only because we can not see properly.

Beauty is an act of consciousness. This evaluation of color and form in the phenomena of experience.

Your form is always beautiful, because it is created with exquisite craftsmanship. Each cell represents the triumph of evolutionary genius.

And if you go beyond the form in your view, you can only feel a sense of fear and wonder.

The mind can process trillions of bits of information per second. At this point, your mind is organizing the exchange of oxygen from the internal organs, blood, and your eyes are busy reading these words and your mind busy, to understand them.

All are beautiful, because everyone has arisen in connection with the creative genius of pure consciousness.

And the world is alive, that moves poems, full of beautiful sounds, and countless impressions.

The saddest thing of all is how little we appreciate it all.

Sunsets and sunrises are lost to us, the morning dew and touch hands of her lover lost to us all. We do not see that before us, or feel what is inside us, because we are busy with things great folly.

Is there any sense that people think about you? Is there any sense if you're working hard to collect more papers with pictures of dead presidents on them? It is not true prosperity for myself and walk on this earth?

Throughout the day, spend a trivialization of things of inestimable value and reflect the real state of things trivial value.

We are proud to be moral, but there you are busy making a deadly sin lightly life and beauty, joy and carefree performance.

You are always beautiful, whether they admit it or not, but this beauty has nothing to do with the artificial standards of the best forms of human color, shape and height. Your beauty is manifested as an act of creativity itself.

The only thing more surprising is alive than alive, as you. What else is needed? That's not all just Footnotes to this beauty, the beauty of having a conscience?

Best to create you. How long does it take before you raise the head of your problems and give him notice?
